Traslacion 2021, Maaring Hindi Na Mag-sagawa Ng Prusisyon

In situation like this now, there is possibility that there will be no traditional procession or celebration of the Black Nazarene on January 9 2021.

Father Douglas Badong, parochial vicar of Quiapo Church said that they are not discounting the possibility due to situation that we are facing now.

He said in an interview, “We have yet to release an official statement about that, but because of our situation, it is unlikely to do our usual traditional celebration.”

The Feast of the Black Nazarene is the highlighted massive procession every January 9. It starts at the Quirino Granstand in Luneta and all the way back to Quiapo Church.

Father Douglas Badong assured devotees that once the situation gets better in the future, they will continue the traditional procession.

“It will be revived, but definitely there will be a big change in our celebration of Traslacion this year.” (2021)

Badong also said about the accommodation of more people in masses at Quiapo Church for the Traslacion 2021.

He said, “We might increase the number of masses, possibly round the clock masses. It is also possible that we will spread out the masses to avoid convergence of people.”

He hope for the understanding of devotees and to be open to these changes. “We need their cooperation so that we can push through with the celebration of the feast of the Black Nazarene,” said the priest.

This coming November, Quiapo Church is expecting to announce the activities for Traslacion 2021.
