President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Philippine Health
Insurance and Corporation (Philhealth) Ricardo Morales, said he will file his
resignation today, August 26.
In his DZMM Teleradyo interview he said, “Ngayong umaga I
have to file it so that merong hard copy. Nagpapasalamat na rin ako sa Pangulo
at pinayagan niya ko magpahinga. Ngayon maatupag ko na ang aking kalusugan at ang
aking pamilya.” He was diagnosed with lymphoma and undergoing a chemotherapy.
He added, “Malaking pasasalamat ko sa Pangulo natin, he
never wavered in his confidence in me and I’m so humbled.” Morales assured that
he will cooperate still with the investigations regarding the fraudulent activities
in Philhealth. He said the investigation are still ongoing and he is complying
to Department of Justice. He signed a bank secrecy waiver and submitted the document
to SALN (Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net worth).
He is confident in IRM, Philhealth’s Interim Reimbursement and
Mechanism. He said IRM has transparency and they are submitting the receipt to
Congress to whom, how much and where it goes.
Aside from Morales, Rodolfo del Rosario PhilHealth’s Senior
Vice President for the Legal Sector also submitted his resignation last Monday.
Morales said that he had no regrets serving the PhilHealth and he has a clear conscience
about the issue that they are facing.
